Who we are

Wollaston Village (wollastonvillage.org.uk) is a community website run by volunteers for the residents of Wollaston, Northamptonshire. It is not a commercial operation. For questions about this policy, contact us at [email protected].

What information we collect

We only collect personal information when you choose to submit it to us. This happens in two places:

  • Community Contributions form — your name, email address, and the content you submit (memories, photographs, historical information).
  • Village Diary event submission form — your name, email address, and details of the event you are submitting.

We do not use tracking cookies, advertising networks, or analytics tools that collect personal data. We do not collect any information passively from visitors who simply browse the site.

How we use your information

Information submitted via our forms is used only to:

  • Review and respond to your submission
  • Publish content you have explicitly offered for publication (e.g. historical memories or photographs), with your credit if requested
  • Contact you if we have questions about your submission

We will never sell, share or pass your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.

Legal basis for processing

Under UK GDPR, our legal basis for processing the personal data you submit is legitimate interests — specifically, the operation of a community website and the publication of local history content. Where you submit content for publication, we rely on your consent as expressed by the act of submission.

How long we keep your data

Contact information submitted via forms is kept only as long as necessary to process your submission — typically no longer than 12 months. Published content (historical articles, photographs with credits) may be retained indefinitely as part of the village archive, but you may request its removal at any time.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to processing of your data
  • Withdraw consent at any time (where consent is the basis for processing)

To exercise any of these rights, email us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.

Cookies

This website does not currently use tracking or analytics cookies. Essential session cookies may be set by the hosting platform to ensure the site functions correctly. These do not identify you personally. See our Cookie Notice for full details.

Third-party links

This site contains links to external websites (including Amazon, Scott Bader, local businesses and others). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to read their own privacy policies.

Complaints

If you have concerns about how we handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page will always reflect when it was last revised.
